so i think that I am finally reachin' that point in my life where I only want to listen to "throwbacks" (music from back when I was younger or what was played a lot in my house growin up).
Currently on my pandora playlist I have the following stations:
Lenny Kravitz
Jason Mraz (Awesome!!!)
Sade (Awesome!!!)
Justin Timberlake
Beyonce
Motown
Whitney Houston
John Mayer
U2
As you can see I have a very eclectic taste in music .
I remember when my momma used to tell me - "Boy you don't know good music, this stuff you listening to isn't real music." that would be followed by me sayin - "Yeah Ok." then I would get into a debate on why a particular artist is hot. Funny how now I am havin these conversations w/ my students. It amazes me how passionate they are about their music.
I can understand that though b/c music can paint a picture of an individual. Not sayin that you should judge a person from their music taste, but you can get a pretty good grasp on their personality. The big debate that I tease them on all the time is on a particular female artist who is the hot thing at the moment w/ a ridiculous name and shall remain nameless :)
for me some of her lyrics make no sense non-whatsoever.
What happened to music w/great lyrics and melody? there are a few artists out there I feel are true artist and are not just an entity: Lenny Kravitz, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, U2, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Whitney Houston (shut up :P), just from the top of my head.
Music to me plays such an important part in a person's life. I will close this with song's I feel that are the soundtrack to my life:
- "Nothin' But Love" - Whitney Houston
- "Fix You" - Coldplay
- "Back At Your Door" - Maroon 5
- "Beautiful Mess" Jason Mraz
- "Song For A Friend" - Jason Mraz
- "Beautiful Day" - U2
- "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" - U2
- "A Message" - Coldplay
- "Pick Up Off The Floor" -MIKA
- 'Pieces Don't Fit Anymore" - James Morrison
- "Songs About Jane" (Full Album) - Maroon 5 - Just about every freakin' song on there has describe my feelings @ one point or another
- "Better Days - Janet Jackson
- "Can't Help It" - Michael Jackson
- "Geek In The Pink" Jason Mraz
- "One" - Mary J. Blige & U2
- "Something's Missing" - John Mayer
- Heartbreak Warefare" John Mayer
- "St. Patrick's Day" - John Mayer
- "Tell Me No" - Whitney Houston
- "Chariot" - Gavin DeGraw
I think that is enough for now maybe I will do disc 2 later :)

This entire post left me with one big smile on my face. You've inspired me to try and think of what my life soundtrack would be...for some reason it kind of intimidates me!
